Film funding opportunity through Film London's Microwave scheme

Film London is offering experienced filmmakers the opportunity to make a mark through its Microwave funding scheme. Filmmakers have until Friday 26th September to apply, and successful production teams will have access to up to £100,000 to produce a feature film telling British stories in line with the Film London ethos. Films will receive a theatrical release and will be screened on the BBC.

The scheme is aimed at filmmakers already connected to the industry, who are perhaps looking to bridge the gap between shorts and features. Mentoring from established industry figures is also on offer in a bid to do what Film London does best - promote film production in the capital and further boost the British film industry.

Brit director says kids films should be, y'know, for kids

Gurinda Chadha, the Brit filmmaker who shot to fame directing Keira Knightley and Parminder Nagra in Bend It Like Beckham, has accused Hollywood studios of overlooking kids while they aim for a wider audience. She attacked films that aim for kiddie audiences but try to introduce a crossover appeal for older people too.

She told the Observer that films should be made just for kids, and would be more innocent as a result.

LoveBritish film is back… Well Kind Of!

LoveBritish film is back. Well kind of. Whilst we beaver away behind the scenes on our new flashy, wham bang thank you ma'am site we wanted to make sure we have some presence back on the web.

So until the end of July when our full site relaunches we have gone for a simple, news based approach. To keep things simple.

But don’t despair… come the end of July we’ll be back with a range of new and classic reviews and features, covering everything from Indie to mainstream British films. We’ll update the news at least twice a week and new features, reviews and articles at least once a week. Our aim is simple – to provide a one stop location for all your British film needs.

But even better our partnership with leading on-line British film magazine www.britishfilmmagazine.com that will be providing headline news stories and features that will run along side our own.

All that and reviews, news & features by some of the best independent writers in the business.

Lucky you!
